Being open

Good morning and happy Saturday! It is a brisk morning here in Naples - mid 50’s. Sweater weather.

This morning I want to write about being open.

Showing up, putting your hands on the keys as it were, doing whatever ritual we’ve got to do to get started — all of these are important. And all of them take us part of the way there.

There is that final step, an internal one, in which we turn our inner ear toward that other, non-dimensional direction.

Being open, being willing, and thus surrendering to the work as it comes through us is so important. And as we talk about all of the hacks and tips and tricks of creativity, I want to make sure we don’t overlook the ineffably beautiful act of simply being open.
